EggsSpiders and Spore Generators (and sometimes Triffid Egg?) can create Eggs. These Eggs are small, white, chicken egg-shaped ovals that are either dark in the middle (unfertilized), or pink in the middle (fertilized). If the eggs are laid in an area with Virii and souls nearby, then the Virii will take a soul to an egg to fertilize it. Fertilized eggs will hatch after 30 seconds or so, and usually release 4-8 new Virii. Usually when securing an area, it's best to first remove any egg-creating enemies in the area, so they can't replenish the enemy forces. This makes it easier to clean up the area. You could also go a different route, and apply the 'Soul Farming' technique - this strategy can provide you with nearly limitless souls that you can use to create a massive Darwinian army! Destroy all enemies in the area EXCEPT for the egg-creating enemy, and 2-5 Virii close to the egg-creator. Harvest Souls, but leave behind ten or so. Eggs will be laid, the Virii will fertilize them, each egg will produce 3-4 more Virii. Peg off a few Virii, leaving the Souls beind. Eggs laid, Virii fertilize. Peg off a few more Virii, again leaving the Souls beind. Rinse, repeat. Soon you'll have a massive buildup of enemies again - time for a culling. Take out the herd, and harvest the Souls, but leave the egg-creator, a few Virii, and a few Souls unharvested, and you can do it all over again.
